Update

I love this photo of Nick holding Kate! I love her smile!!

Our Little Eskimo~

This is how she got her Nickname Miss Marvelous!!! It is still a little big for her but she was only a week old!

Mommy & Kate....Mommy is looking really tired! :)

Here are some more photos of Kate's Newborn photos that Kate Webber did! Nick and I weren't planning on being in any photos but glad we did a few! :) I have noticed I take all the photos so I am not in them! We need to change that! :)

Kate is doing great....she is growing like crazy and changing every day! The last few days she has started crying more and is more fussy! A few nights have been challenging but we are working through it and every day is a learning experience and it is trial and error. She is really good with her afternoon nap and we are working on the morning nap and so far for the last two days she has done really well! The nights are challenging as she is more fussy when she wakes up around 4:30am and wants to be up! :) So I am going with it and then napping when she takes her morning nap. Maybe this is why she is doing the morning nap! :)
Anyway....it is all worth it no matter what! I can't believe still that she is ours! We love her soooooo much!
She is also much more alert! She loves playing on her activity mat an plays with the parrot and loves listening to the music!
She also wants nothing to do with a pacifier! We have tried the paci many times but she just doesn't want it so, so be it..not going to force it on her!
So that is the update for now!
Hope all is well!!!

Doctor Visit

Today we went to the doctor for Kate's 3 week check up! She is doing great! She now weighs 8lbs 15oz! When she was born she weighed 7lbs 9oz so she is progressing quite nicely!
We just got her newborn photos back and I thought I would post the one of the THREE of us as I just love this photo!! :) :)
A Few things about Kate Lately~
*She has found her right hand and loves to play with it and suck on it
*She loves to watch her animals above her swing while she is swinging
*She is lifting up her head when you put her on your shoulder and likes to look around
*She loves when her daddy bounces with her on our bouncy exercises ball (this is amazing if you have a fussy baby just sit on it and start bouncing and it does the trick! )

Daddy's First Day Back To Work

Nick & Kate before he went back to work for the first time after she was born!
This was a hard day for Mommy! I was so sad to see him go! It was really hard for Nick to and he called a lot to check on us and her! We were so wishing Daddy had a job that he could work from home so we could all be together all the time...but unless we move Daddy's restaurant into our house there is no such luck! We have been adjusting well and Nick takes advantage of his time at home and truly is hands on with Kate!! He loves to be with her and do all the things she needs!
He is such a great dad!!!
We can't wait to bring Kate to the Claremont to see Daddy at work and meet his team!
SOON!
We really can't wait to have a SPA DAY there!!!

Coming Home!!!

WELCOME HOME KATE IRENE DOLATA

Nick, Kate & I getting ready to go home from the hospital! Boy do I look tired!
Kate is in her "going home" outfit! I have to tell you that Nick and I picked out two outfits one for a boy and one for a girl! We found this cute outfit at Nordstrom's and I joked around with Nick that if we had a boy I would have to dress him up in this outfit just because I loved it so much! She sure looked pretty!!! Not biased or anything! :) :)

Kelly Leaving the hospital with Kate and my nurse Adriana! I have to tell you it was so hard to leave the hospital! The staff at Queen of the Valley in Napa was truly amazing! I have never in my entire life experienced such care! These nurses and doctors are truly amazing! Giving birth to Kate at the Queen was truly an amazing experience! I can't say enough about the nurses there!! Truly Amazing! I am excited to hurry back for baby #2...well not right away! :)

Kate in her car seat for the first time!!! This brought a little tear to my eye!!!

Today is The Day~

Kelly working from the hospital room! Waiting for something to happen!

Leslie...what kind of face is that?
Em & Kelly working via Labor and Delivery! We are die hard wedding planners!
What is Maternity Leave???

My last supper! Leslie went and got me a Chicken Sandwich from Norman Rose...last meal I could have before they started the Pitocin! It was DELICIOUS!

Sorry...can't figure out how to change the photo but it was Yummy!!!

So....Nick, Mom and I arrived to Queen of the Valley Hospital at 7:30am. We got all settled in Room 3 and at 9am they gave me 1/2 of a pill that was suppose to help me go into labor! 5 hours later nothing....I wasn't dilated and no contractions so they gave me the other 1/2 of the pill...4 hours later still nothing so they tried to break my water...NO SUCH LUCK...and so Dr. Kirk said at 7:30pm they were going to start the Pitocin. Basically the entire day was very uneventful. I kinda wondered why I was there and there was even mention that if nothing worked they might send me home the next day and I would come back later that week...I did not want that to happen! I was ready to have this baby!! :) :)
At 7:30pm they administered the Pitocin and about 30minutes later I started to have contractions. They weren't that bad I used my breathing techniques and I was handling it...then they started to intensify! It was getting a little crazy! They gave me a little something through my IV to make me comfortable but that still didn't really work too well....so finally about 11:30pm I said I wanted the epidural! Mel...the anestisologist (sp?) came in and gave me the epidural...I didn't even feel it and within 20 minutes the contractions were better and like Mel said I would be his new best friend and I was....UNTIL.....about an hour or so later when the contractions came back and were hurting so bad! Each one felt a little worse. I forgot to mention that after I got the epidural Dr. Kirk said that I probably wouldn't deliver till 7am in the morning so Mom, Dad and Emarie decided to go home and Nick promised to call them when it was getting close so they could come back but at least they could get some sleep and not be up all night! Right after they left Dr. Kirk came in to check me and I was dilated to 5 and so he wanted to break my water...He broke my water and we were on our way!
Well......getting back to the contractions coming back and hurting like crazy about 30minutes after he broke my water is when it was very painful!!! ...I told the nurse I needed something more as this was unbearable! Dr. Kirk came in and told me that I had a really low tolerance for pain (something I have never been told before) and that I really needed to pace myself as I had till about 6am-7am before the baby would be here! I told him I was sorry and that I was really in a lot of pain...he said he was sending Mel in to up my epidural....meanwhile the nurse came into check on me and told me if I felt a lot of pressure to let her know.....literally as soon as she walked out the door I looked at Nick and said I feel pressure I think it is time to push! Mind you this is about 1:40am....I said go get Dr. Kirk...he went and got Dr. Kirk and Dr. Kirk came back and said I went from 5 centimeters to -2 in less than 30 minutes and it was time to push! He said no wonder you were in so much pain!!! So Nick called my parents and they didn't answer there phones..don't they know someone is having a baby?? So he called Emarie's phone and she answered and said come on back Kelly is going to have the baby anytime now!
They made it back just in time!
Kate was born at 2:51am...I told Dr. Kirk I wanted to have her before 3am and I did it!!! :)
When she was born Nick said "It's A Girl.....It's Kate"
It was the sweetest thing ever...I can't ever put into words what that moment was like and how incredible it was to hear him say the sex of our baby and then he announced her name! There was no discussion about "does she look like a Kate?" Is Kate the name...? Nope it was It's a Girl.....It's Kate and she handed her to me!!! Amazing!!
Never in a million years did I think I could love something so much...other than my husband of course...but my love for my daughter is something I have never felt in my life and I feel so blessed to have her and the most amazing husband and Daddy to our baby girl!
Mommy & Daddy Love You Kate thank you for coming into our lives! You complete us!

12 Hours Till Show Time~

Well I thought I would blog one last time before we head to the hospital tomorrow morning!
I had a really busy day today. Mom and I decided to have one last Hurrah in Corte Madera shopping before the little one arrives so we had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory...A little shopping at Nordstroms and Anthro so mom could pick out her hospital outfit! SO CUTE stay tuned for photos and then down to Giggle for a few last minute baby items! I am so glad we got out of the house today as it took my mind off of everything and Nick...unfortunately is sick! Yes, can you believe it he is sick with the flu. I am PRAYING that he is better for tomorrow as I have no idea what we are going to do and I don't even want to think about that!

Some of the things I am feeling right now are nervousness, a little anxiety, excitement and still really can't believe that tomorrow Nick and I are going to be MOMMY AND DADDY so a little bit of Happy Tears!!! It is really just so surreal I can't even explain it and I am sure all you Mom's and Dad's out there can relate to what I am feeling right now! I can't believe that maybe tomorrow at this exact time I could be holding my baby!!! WOW!!!

Well....I am hoping I can sleep tonight!! I know I need it!

I can't wait for my next blog post as it will be so exciting to share with you our baby and the SEX!!!!!

Wish Us Luck tomorrow!

XOXO
Kell, Nick and Cutie!!!
